Industry leader and professional consultant in developing and implementing new technology in the critical, precision, and industrial cleaning sectors. Educator in cleaning science. Solver of client's problems and communicator of solutions. Co-recipient of the prestigious R&D Magazine Top 100 Award for the year 2000.

Experienced chemical and engineering professional with Du Pont/Conoco for more than 25 years of increasing responsibility and achievements in polymer, chemical, petrochemical, and technical instrumentation businesses. Registered Professional Engineer, Texas, 1981.

Innovator with patents and corporate recognition. Strengths are problem solving skills, the ability to simplify, and being an excellent communicator. Project leader of teams in process and product development.

Specific areas of technical experience include: measurement and validation of cleaning performance, control of particles via hydrodynamic means, ultrasonic cleaning/rinsing, water purification, clean manufacture, dynamic simulation of rinsing systems, parts drying, and solvent substitution.

B.S., M.S., & Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Lehigh University.

Dr. Durkee has written more than 300 technical articles in the areas of cleaning materials and process management, solvent substitution, and the marketing of technical products. He is the author of the recently published Management of Industrial Cleaning Technologies and Processes (Elsevier, ISBN 0-080-44888-7, 2006)(Available at Amazon) and the landmark volume, The Parts Cleaning Handbook Without CFCs: How To Manage The Change (Hanser-Gardner Publications, ISBN 1-56990-143-0, 1994)(Available at Amazon). He has taught cleaning science by invitation to firms as well at technical seminars such as Clean-Tech, NEPCON West, APEX, the Phoenix Solvent Substitution Workshop, the NASA Aerospace Conference on Environmental Affairs, the International Conference on Elimination of CFCs, and others.

Dr. Durkee is the sole author of a monthly column called "C4" about critical cleaning for contamination control in Controlled Environments Magazine (formerly A2C2), The Journal of Advancing Applications in Contamination Control.

Dr. Durkee is the sole author of a column on cleaning science and applications for Metal Finishing Magazine.

Dr. Durkee is the sole author of a monthly column in Galvanotechnik.

Dr. Durkee served on the consulting faculty at the University of Tennessee as a thesis advisor, served on the advisory board of Precision Cleaning Magazine, wrote a monthly column for Products Finishing Magazine, and is an advisor to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Toxic Use Reduction Institute (TURI).

With a past client, Dr. Durkee received the prestigious R&D Magazine “Top 100” Award for the year 2000. This recognition was for the development of a new cleaning system that cleans without cleaning chemistry.
